6 Hour Behind The Wheel Driver Training* (Written and eye exams available)
This state required training for applicants 16 year olds is beneficial to families who are prepared to spend supervised driving time with their inexperienced driver, for continued education and development of a safe and effective driving habits. Only a state approved instructor can purchase a permit for a 16 year old.
While not required for applicants 17 years and older, this service is still valuable to develop safe and effective driving habits. Parents can purchase permits for 17 years old. Applicants 18 years and older can purchase their own permit.
*Certificate for Insurance discount upon a minimum of 6hrs of training for all ages.
Steps for 16 year olds: (Special Learner’s Permit)
1. Enroll with EDS, LLC and submit state required service agreement.
2. Provide $10, 6pts of ID, state application* for a state licensed driving instructor to purchase the permit.
3. Pass NJ MVC’s Knowledge** and Vision tests.
4. Complete the six hours of scheduled training.
5. Validate the permit***
6. Schedule a Road Test***
* Green form that requires applicant social security number, and a parents Driver License Number & Signature
** Or provide a NJ MVC waiver card
*** As a courtesy validation and scheduling may be done by the instructor. Sometimes validation cannot be done due to state computer servers not functioning when validation is attempted. Practice driving cannot begin until a permit is properly validated. After an initial road test is scheduled at a DMV, changes can be done online at NJMVC’s website.
Inexperienced Driver Training/Continued Training*
This training is designated for anyone possessing, a validated Examination Permit (17 or older) seeking professional training, or a Special Learner’s Permit (16 year olds) seeking continued professional training. Students enrolled can individualize their training on an hourly basis.

Road Test
EDS, LLC provides a couple options for the road test. Students can obtain transportation to the road test. The second option would be to enroll in a lesson one hour in advanced of the road test, in which they drive to the road test.
